Executive coaching is a way of helping managers and leaders become more effective in their role. They provide guidance to improve your decision-making abilities and lead your team in more organised manner. They also work with you to explore your wider career goals and help you identify and address key areas which may be holding you back from fulfilling your potential. Many senior leaders have transformed their careers by working with an executive coach.

Common focus areas include:

  • Improving confidence when interacting with more senior colleagues, often referred to as ‘Managing Up’ (particularly in the board room)
  • Improving communication skills (verbal, written, listening, presentations)
  • Developing personal presence
  • Managing organisation change
  • Understanding your management style and how to adapt to create more effective relationships
  • Overcoming’ Imposter Syndrome’ (a psychological occurrence in which people doubt their skills, talents, or accomplishments and have a persistent fear of being exposed)
  • Helping address the challenges of being new to management
  • Understanding your career goals and identifying the goals and steps to help you reach your career objectives

Shelley will work with you on a 121 basis. Typically the process is as follows:

  1. Initial Assessment to identify key areas (The assessment form can be viewed here – it is completed prior to the assessment meeting)
  2. Agree together the primary 3 areas of focus
  3. Over three 2 hour coaching sessions each area will be explored in more detail. Goals and objectives are agreed and documented and actions from the previous session are followed up
  4. Post Coaching Review – scheduled for 3 months after the final session to review implementation

The conversations you have are in complete confidence. If your organisation is funding the coaching, the key areas of development will be shared but the detail remains between the individual and the coach.
